The Group of Analysis, Security and Systems (GASS), Research Group 910623 from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), is composed by a group of young researchers and professors from different faculties: the Faculty of Statistical Studies, the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, the last one being the core Faculty.

GASS is clearly inter-departmental oriented, as the group members belong to different departments, namely the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Information Systems and Computing, the Department of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and the Department of Statistics and Operations Research III.

As an interdisciplinary research team of the UCM, GASS integrates mathematical solutions into different environments and applies them to a broad range of problems. The research concentrates on the design, evaluation and implementation of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, and on the development of security architectures for information and communication systems. The applications areas are privacy, identity management and anonymous communications, as well as trusted platforms. A relatively new research topic deals with mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), wireless sensors networks (WSNs), next generation networks (NGNs) and software-defined networks (SDNs). GASS evaluates and develops security for wireless and mobile networks.

GASS collaborates with R&D companies such as Hitachi (USA), IBM Research (USA), Nokia (Spain), Safelayer Secure Communications (Spain) or TB Solutions Security S. A (Spain), and institutions such as Ministerio de Defensa de España (Spanish Ministry of Defense), University of Kent (UK) or University of the West of Scotland (UK).

Besides its scientific and educational activities, GASS provides consultancy services in Computer Science, mainly in the area of Computer Security and Networks.
