ABOUT US

Headed by Dr. Luis Javier García Villalba.

The Group of Analysis, Security and Systems (GASS), Research Group 910623 from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), is composed of a group of researchers and professors from different faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Statistical Studies, the Faculty of Mathematics, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Computer Science, with its headquarters in the latter.

GASS has a marked interdepartmental character since its members belong to 6 different Departments of the UCM: Department of Mathematical Analysis and Applied Mathematics, Department of Financial and Actuarial Economics and Statistics, Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Department of Statistics and Data Science, Department of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and Department of Information Systems and Computing.

As an interdisciplinary group, GASS integrates mathematical solutions in different environments and applies them to a wide range of problems. Research focuses on the design, evaluation, and implementation of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, as well as the development of security architectures for information and communication systems. The areas of application include privacy, identity management, anonymous communication, and trust platforms. Relatively recent research topics include multimedia forensic analysis of mobile devices, big data analysis, and 6G networks. GASS develops security solutions for wireless and mobile networks.

GASS collaborates with R&D companies such as Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, IBM, IDENER, Telefónica I+D or Trilateral Research and Consulting, with institutions such as the National Intelligence Center, the La Marañosa Technological Institute, the General Directorate of Police or INTERPOL , and with universities such as the National Polytechnic Institute, the University of Brasilia, the University of the North, the Free University of Brussels or the University of Kent.

Besides its scientific and educational activities, GASS provides consultancy services in computer science, mainly in the area of computer security and networks.
